These flat steel bones are perfect for corset making. The entire bone is plastic-coated and the ends are rounded and factory dipped several times, making them smooth and less likley to break throught the bone casing. Generally use a steel around 1-2cm shorter than your bone casing. They are particularly necessary in the back of the corset, either side of the lacing eyelets.

My personal preference is to use a flat steel either side of the eyelets and in the last bone at the back on either side of the corset, with spiral steels throughout the remainder. Some people set flat bones in the front as well, and others prefer flat steels throughout.
