Seconds - this fabric is wider than usual, as a result the card roll snapped in handling and fell off the reel  - hence we have called it seconds and priced it accordingly, to be on the safe side!  

This is superb-quality stretch velvet — dense, luxurious and beautifully behaved — sourced from ex Designer stock.

The fabric is a true 280gsm, meaning 280 grams per square metre (1m x 1m). This is not the often-misquoted “grams per linear metre”, which causes endless confusion. To put it plainly:

• Full Width: approx. 155cm

• A full linear metre weighs almost 450g

This makes it a substantial, high-end velvet, with excellent opacity, drape and longevity.

The handle is soft and fluid, with a widthways stretch only (and minimal natural give lengthways). This is exactly what you want for eveningwear and tailoring — it allows garments to shape and contour the body without bagging or sagging, which is a common problem with 2-way or 4-way stretch velvets.

The result is a fabric that skims, sculpts and hangs beautifully, making it ideal for gowns, dresses, tops and trouser suits, while still being suitable for structured bralettes and bodysuits where support and recovery matter.
